Next stop, Paihia!

So much to love!

The big one for me is that it’s the perfect combination of transport and accommodation. Driving was a breeze, great engine, smooth gear shifts, it sits nicely on the road and it’s a piece of cake to drive. It’s also really economical!

Set up was easy and there’s actually a huge amount of space in it. We had 3 days of rain so we spent a lot of time in the van together – plenty of space to sit separately and have some privacy!

I loved that it’s typically Volkswagen. Nothing felt too fancy for roughing it in a campground, yet everything was exactly as if you had designed it for yourself. The automatic roof is a satisfying function (especially for those of us who have had crank up campers), the table folds away neatly, the front seats swivel and move so they are ideal for both driving and relaxing. I know these aren’t amazing functions and plenty of vehicles have them, but there is something extremely satisfying about everything being in the right place – it really adds to your enjoyment of the vehicle and the experience. Tonnes of small details we really appreciated.
